A guide to Britain's power stations

This contains information on power stations in Great Britain. I am aiming to produce a comprehensive list, with directions and technical details. Pictures will be included some time in June.

The information I have so far has quite an English bias. I will publish more stuff on Scotland and Wales when I get it.

The California article has now been written.

After an interval of well over a year, I've found some time to do some work on this site. It has been very gratifying to have received so much feedback from enthusiasts and professionals over the time that this site has been up.

I have at last scanned some of my photographs to put on the site.

The National Grid site has moved - the links below have been updated. This is now a very useful and well put-together resource.

I recently spent a few weeks in California, which has been having well-publicised problems meeting electricity demand. I am doing some research into the causes of this, which will be posted here when complete.

The National Grid has published a seven year statement covering their forward planning for 1999-2006. This document includes nearly all of the information I have been trying to collect here, and with its quarterly updates is much more up-to-date. Chapter 3 includes a complete list of power stations connected to the grid, but the whole statement seems very interesting. It consists of about 20Mb of acrobat files, so I will include some summaries once I have read it.

I have discontinued my list of power stations in deference to the National Grid's more definitive document. This should allow me to concentrate on the more subjective aspects of the subject. Thanks to all those who have sent me updates.
