INDEX
[1059]
The link to Fanny Child who married Jeremiah Masefield is a little tenuous.
There is no record of Fanny's baptism in the Beckbury BTs.
They are not very legible. There is a baptism of John, son of John Child
and Fanny his wife, which is in the IGI (presumably from the Parish
Registers) and in the BTs. Fanny's baptism is not in the IGI either.
On the plus side,
there are no other Child families in Beckbury;
the dates tie up quite well;
the name Fanny recurs.

[1129]
There is a puzzle about the surname of the (C)Laytons. The Brewood Parish
Registers contain the baptism of three children of Richard and Sarah
Clayton. There are then the following entries:
baptism of Thomas, son of Richard and Sarah Layton on 27 April 1777;
burial of Mary, daughter of Richard Layton on 25 Sept 1776;
burial of Richard Layton on 8 June 1777;
burial of Thomas, son of Sarah Layton, widow on 27 March 1779;
