9 September at Cheslyn Hay. Her age was given as 66, she was a Farmer's Wife (although her husband John had died in December the previous year). The cause of death was 'Paralysis' [a stroke?]. The informant was William Clift, Farmer, Cheslyn Hay, who registered the death on August 12 [if the certificate is to be believed!]. The registrar was Augustine Fry, for the Registration District of Penkridge, Sub-District of Cannock, in the County of Stafford. Matilda was buried in Codsall parish Church on 12 September. The Parish Register gives her abode as 'nr Shareshill', her age as 66. [Shareshill is about two-and-a-half miles west of Cheslyn Hay] --------------------------------------------------------------------------
