Ghana International Airlines were founded in 2004 to replace Ghana Airways as the national flag carrier of Ghana. Jointly owned by the Ghanean Government and GIA-USA they commenced operations on October 29th, 2005 with daily flights between Accra (DGAA) and Gatwick (EGKK). Originally using a Boeing 757-200 (N930RD) leased from Ryan International Airlines, Ghana International have recently boosted capacity on the route by 30%, operating the route with a Boeing 767-300 leased from Loftleidir Icelandic instead.
