LEFT: What a little beauty this gilded strap end or mount is. It has a lion in repose with scrolling at the end of the object. It has been made of three layers of metal and is quite intricate in design. The reverse shows more clearly the rivet holes. This is the sort of thing I long to find, but Kev obviously beat me to it (then I nearly beat him after he got it - except that he's bigger than me, in some departments at least).
