Xerocomus pruinatus

Cap to 10cm., convex, dark crimson brown to chestnut. Stipe to 100 x 30mm., completely bright yellow or with reddish tints. Flesh bright yellow, slowly blueing when cut. Tubes and pores lemon-yellow, blue with age. Spore print olive-brown; spores subspindle-shaped, smooth, 11 - 14 x 4.5 - 5.5µm. Uncommon, on soil in deciduous woodland particularly beech, summer to autumn.
