The pages illustrated here record the mushrooms and other fungi that thrive along the Irwell Valley, interesting fungi from other areas will also be shown alongside the local flora.

It is intended that the species listed will be added to in due course, up-dated when necessary, and drawings or photographs of microscopic characteristics added to aid identification of difficult groups.

As the study of fungi is still in a transitory state (mycologists still differing in interpretation of similar species), names given to species on these pages may differ from those illustrated in popular field guides.

The species are set out in family groups ie. Tricholomataceae, with different genera in each family listed below. To view the pages the menu on the left-hand side gives the user access to the Homepage, fungi families and other related information and websites.

The user can copy any picture from the site for personal use or for school or college projects if the source is acknowledged. Copyright protects any other use.
