Description:

Illuminated from above, the full glory of this section of butterfly wing is presented in reds, golds and browns. The whole view is filled with the coloured scales on the wing. To the lower left and towards the centre, the scales are ovoid with a slightly serrated edge. Towards the edge of the wing, the scales elongate until they are narrow feathery plumes forming a dense fringe.
