Achievements: Commendation for attention to duty, 2352; Developed tachyon field detection grid, 2367 Born blind due to a birth defect. Wore VISOR from 2340 to 2372 (advanced optical sensor that allows him to see outside human visible spectrum). By stardate 50893, received ocular implants to replace VISOR. Upon graduation from Starfleet Academy, piloted Jovian Run between Jupiter and Saturn, 2358. As of 2362, served as ensign on U.S.S. Victory under Captain Zimbata. In that year, on away mission to Tarchannen III, was infected with alien DNA strand that, in 2367, began transforming him into alien life-form; was fully cured. Transferred in 2364 to U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D upon recommendation of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. As lieutenant junior grade, served as flight control officer. In 2364, when Captain Picard and Commander Riker were trapped on surface of planet Minos, LaForge took command of Enterprise and executed a risky atmospheric maneuver to destroy an attacking automated probe. In 2365, LaForge promoted to full lieutenant, assigned to chief engineer. Served with distinction. Around stardate 42779.1, was kidnapped by Pakleds in an attempt to gain access to Federation weapons technology; was successfully rescued. LaForge promoted to lieutenant commander, early 2366. Around stardate 43025.6, when the Enterprise was trapped in an ancient Menthar energy-draining device, LaForge, working with a holographic representation of Dr. Leah Brahms, devised the plan to release the ship. LaForge later met the real Leah Brahms in 2367 and worked with her to remove an alien juvenile life form, inadvertently removed from its mother by the Enterprise, that was feeding off the ship's systems. During the Klingon Civil War of 2367-68, LaForge devised a tachyon network to detect cloaked warbirds when the Enterprise participated in the blockade of the Romulan supply lines. In 2368, studied Borg technology of captured Borg drone, 'Hugh,' and devised invasive program to destroy Borg collective, but it was never employed. After stardate 45892.4, LaForge presumed dead, but discovered alive, having been rendered invisible by a new Romulan cloaking device. In 2371, Klingon fugitives Lursa and B'Etor kidnapped LaForge and accessed VISOR data that allowed them to devastatingly attack Enterprise-D. After destruction of Enterprise-D, LaForge assigned chief engineer of US.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E. When Enterprise-E returned to Earth's past (2063) to repel Borg incursion, LaForge, with Commander Riker, accompanied Zefram Cochrane on historic first warp flight. In 2374, traveled with Enterprise on diplomatic mission until interrupted by Admiral Doughterty's request for Data's schematics, which alerted both Geordi and Captain Picard. After a rescue mission of Data, Geordi discovered several burned components from Data's head including memory chips, damaged by a Son'a weapon. Geordi experienced severe headaches in the Briar's Patch, which later revealed by Dr. Crusher, was a result of the regeneration of the the cells around his optic nerves, brought on by the metaphasic radiation of the Ba'ku world's rings. His ocular Implantws were removed and later gained real eyes. He later beamed to the surface and witnessed a sunrise for the first time. As Picard and team beam down to the surface, LaForge served at Ops under Commander Riker to warn Starfleet Command of what is going on. A conflict with the Son'a forced LaForge to eject the Enterprise's warp core to close a subspace tear. The Son'a are later defeated and Geordi's sight returns to normal.
