It is with regret that we record the death of Mr.James CHRISTOPHER of 4,Park Road, Wigan which occurred on Sunday week (Sunday February 06 th.1921.) following a seizure. The deceased gentleman who was 53 years old, was born at Dungarvan, his parents being well known in County Wexford. He came to Wigan in 1898, to open a branch on behalf of Messrs CHRISTOPHER Bros. a well known firm of Lancashire Tea Merchants ,being the SECOND OF THE THREE BROTHERS in the business. He began in premises in MILLGATE but owing to the demands of increasing business, it was found necessary in 1904 to remove to more commodious premises in DORNING STREET, and when these premises were required for HOTEL PREMISES in January last the business was transferred to 18, QUEEN STREET WIGAN .

Mr. GERALD CHRISTOPHER the deceased ELDEST BROTHER manages the BLACKBURN and PRESTON branches of the business and Mr. TOM CHRISTOPHER JP, his younger brother having charge at BURY. The deceased was a devout Roman Catholic, and was a highly esteemed member of St Johns congregation . The body was taken into St. Johns church on Wednesday (09/02/2l.) evening where it was received by farther Pye, S.J.the acolytes and a large congregation , after theusual prayers the body was allowed to lie before the high alter. A requiem mass was said at 10.o. clock on Thursday (10/02/2l.) and the body was removed to Wigan cemetery for burial in the afternoon.
