The BikeBox

The pictures on this page show how the BikeBox is constructed and used.

A bicycle packed in the BikeBox

The bike box carries your bicycle securely in transit by attaching it to an internal frame (red straps) which sits on top of a foam lining. As you can see the pedals are removed and the handlebars loosened to allow them to rotate under the top tube. Unless your frame is quite large the saddle can remain attached. Normally the remaining space is filled with helmet, clothing etc, although it pays to keep the weight down to avoid those pesky airport handlers having a hernia and dropping your bike.

Foam sheets are supplied as separators between the frame and wheels, which are strapped together as shown to prevent movement in transit. The lid of the box is now placed on top and the external straps fitted and tightened - see next pic

Although designed to sit securely on an airport trolley the BikeBox has external carrying straps which work well for a short carry.Once again, to save you doing your back in, we recommend not overloading the BikeBox.
