Welcome to the homepage of the West Sussex Geological Society (WSGS). The society has about 80 members, holds monthly lectures at St Stephen's Church. Angola Road, Worthing. The wide variety of subjects, given by university lecturers and other experts, range from 'Folklore to Fossils' to 'Geological Exploration of the Planets'; with world wide 'excursions' on film e.g. 'Iceland','Madagascar','Dinosaurs on the Isle of Wight' and 'The Grand Canyon'. Field trips excursions and social activities, together with specimen identification sessions are arranged and enjoyed by the members. Exhibitions are also held in libraries,universities and local halls to encourage interest in geology.
The West Sussex Geological Society (WSGS) was formed in 1977 to promote the knolege of, and intrest in geology and to provide a forum for dicussion, demonstration and exchange of views amongst its members. The WSGS is affiliated to the Geologist's Association. Amongst other benifits, affiliation to The Geologists Association entitles any WSGS member to attend any Geologists Association lecture or field trip (details at each meeting - Contact Brenda Humphries Click here to find her address.).
