"The Scaith was only ever built in wood by us. None were built by anyone else. We built quite a few of them before the design was changed to that of the Peterboat 4.5 metre, a very similar boat but with an improved hull shape. This was after about 2 years of very extensive sea trials by John Watkinson, who used his Scaith as a pleasure boat and a working boat when he was the Harbourmaster at Newton Ferrers."
