On military training. Was inspected by the CO and passed correct. Left Rawal Pindi for Huldanna about the 9th April and I was warned for duty at Murree Depot on 12th May to take over the duties of Depot Orderly Sgt. During my duty here we had several parties of invalids up from the plain to Murree hospital and when they got discharged from Hospital we sent them to their different hill stations. Passed for promotion to full Corporal. Went through musketry in June and made 119 points at the Huldanna ranage. The monsoon set in about the middle of June and we have had some very bad weather up to the present.

9th August

Still at Murree depot, went over to Huldanna on 21st and fired seven rounds, made 13 points. Went over again on 22nd and again on 26th. Was returned to the regiment for duty to go through military training.

1st September

Started military training , took over orderly corporal on the 2nd inst. We done a road sketch of the Devonshire road from the barracks to the officers mess. On Monday 4th we did map reading and road report, then went out down to Gharia Gully and from there towards the officers mess and explained to the officer where to put out picquets and outposts. Then went with the whole company the other side of Gharia Gully and climbed up the different spusrs of rocks (in drill order) to reach Thobba, where the enemy were supposed to be on position. The climb was very stiff and dangerous and I was about done in by the time that I arrived at the top. We then formed up and came back down the short cut from Thobba getting in about 1 am. On Thursday 7th we paraded at 9am in drill order and went up to the short cut towards Murree. Then front formed and extended order, went through the wood towards the Bunyan shop at the crossroads towards upper Topa. We then retired aback again towards barracks getting in about 1 am.
