What is BCQ?

British Cycle Quest. If you like your cycling to have a purpose, enjoy devising your own routes and visiting obscure places, then the BCQ could be for you. Launched in 2000 BCQ involves tracking down answers to 402 questions nationwide. It's easier than it sounds, however, because you're given the map reference for each place you visit and the questions are simple - they exist to prove only that you were there. There are six sites to visit in each of the 67 counties or islands, and you can obtain County Cards and a Wall Chart to record your progress. Awards are available for visiting 50, 100, 200, 300 and all 402 sites. More info. on the BCQ website.

Alan and Mavis Wallace of St Albans rode over 10,000 miles to become the first people to complete BCQ - AND they completed every part of the challenge by bicycle, never once using a car or train to cover the intervening miles. Stunning performance!
