Day 2, approximately 14 miles in total, starts where day 1 finished, the end of the public road at the end of Strath Rusdale NH 568780 You now leave civilisation behind for a while and walk into a vast upland area with little habitation. Follow the estate track trending approximately northwest. After about 6 miles you will come to Lochan a Chairn at NH515845. Shortly beyond the lochan, you reach the first high level detour option.

At NH506854 a path branches left. For the high level detour take this, and bag the two summits of Carn Chuinneag at 830 and 838 metres high. Take the path north from the col just to the west of the 830M peak, aiming to rejoin the main path at NH474849

To avoid the high level detour, simply stay on the main track and follow this to NH474849

However you get there, from NH474849 follow the track now trending generally north northwest until you reach the public road just beyond Glencalvie lodge at NH465892. This is a convenient point for B&B walkers to finish for the day, and arrange their transport to collect them.

If you are backpacking, you might want to walk westward from here along the estate road and pass Alladale Lodge. Continue a mile further on to Alladale Bothy at NH425895 You will retrace this last mile the next day.
