Ringing on the restored Hacheston bells
With the fitting of the new counterbalanced/machined clappers, the Hacheston Bells 2000 Project is
complete. The emphasis has thus switched to ringing on the new bells.
The bells are rung for most services, excluding the 8.00 Communion.
The regular practice takes place on alternate Wednesday evenings (from July 2006) from 19.30 to 21.00, and visitors are most welcome.
The practice is shared with Parham, whose bells have just been restored. The practice is at Parham on the 1st, 3rd and 5th (if any)
Wednesdays of the month, and at Hacheston on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
Visitors wishing to use the bells should contact the Tower Captain.
Sadly, there have been no weddings to ring for, but the bells have been rung for Christenings, and the old
tradition of tolling the tenor at funeral services to mark the sex and age of the deceased has been revived.
