What happens at the consultation?

At the consultation you will be able to discuss your concerns about your child's reading and spelling.

The tutor will then carry out a series of non-stressful tests with your child, which should take about 50 minutes.

This is to establish what your child can do now in order to plan lessons effectively.

You will receive a written report of the tutor's findings and recommendations for your child.

What about the lessons and homework?

Lessons last one hour and are weekly on a one-to-one basis, subject to availability.

Homework (10-15 minutes a night) is set for the week ahead.

A parent is required to stay in lessons to observe both the way the programme is structured and the way the tutor works. It is important that the same person does this every week and helps the child with the homework, to ensure continuity of approach.

Additionally it is recommended that you read with your child for 20-30 minutes a day, reinforcing the lessons.

Don't worry, should you choose to make this commitment you will be shown what to do.
