Originally formed fifteen years ago as the Women's Regional Rowing Centre, the Capital Rowing Centre is now open to people at all levels of the sport.
As a teaching centre, the focus is on developing thinking oarsmen and women, from the beginner to the more experienced sportsperson looking to advance their
technique for competition or
recreation.
At the centre we believe that
everyone should be able to try the sport, and we actively
encourage women and juniors in particular to come and have a go. We are also happy to provide support and advice in finding the right club for individuals wishing to continue.
Junior rowing
We have a strong junior section at capital made up of varying ages and abilities. Our emphasis is on teaching youngsters good technique and we use wider training boats to build confidence before moving onto racing shells. Junior sessions are accompanied on the water by a safety launch. We are proud of the friendly atmosphere at the centre and welcome new junior members of all ability.
