Melmerby is a hamlet situated in Coverdale
in the Yorkshire Dales, roughly four and a half miles SSW of Leyburn.
The village stands on a sloping plateau between 250 and 290 metres
above sea level. South of the village, the ground drops away to the
river Cover, while to the north, the ground climbs over Melmerby Moor
to the bulk of Pen Hill (520 metres above sea level). There is a bed and breakfast farmhouse with two holiday cottages

are some pictures of the event.
There are about 30 people living here full time and another 14 or
so who own 7 holiday homes here and visit regularly. There are 4 working
farms.
The village has its own spring water supply - housed below Melmerby
Moor, for which a treatment plant was installed about 3 years ago.
This is looked after on a rota basis by some of the villagers. (See
