This practical
workshop is aimed at those people who have to make formal internal or
external presentations as part of their job. Participants will
be either those who are experienced presenters who wish to ‘refresh’
their technique or those who have to make a presentation for the first
time and find the experience ‘challenging’.
Workshop
content:
This workshop aims
to develop the confidence and skills of participants by reviewing and
providing practise in PREPARATION and DELIVERY of a presentation.
Topics include:
Defining the objective and the
audience.
Deciding what to say and then how
to get the right information.
Structuring the presentation in
stages that build together in a logical order.
Getting the timing right. Knowing
how to put times on each of the stages.
Memory or notes. When to use
memory and how to use notes or a script.
Choice of visual aids. Deciding
which ones to use for the best effect.
Using rehearsals as a means of
"Getting it right" on the day.
Making the vocal delivery
interesting. Accents, projection and pitch.
Keeping eye contact with the
audience regardless of its size.
Dealing with stage fright. Keeping
nerves under control.
Each participant
will make four presentations during the workshop. Two of the
presentations will be video recorded for immediate feedback and
critique by the other participants and tutor.

outcomes:
At the end of the workshop
the participants will be able to: identify the factors to be considered when
preparing to give a presentation; develop an approach for planning an
effective presentation; deliver a presentation with confidence.
