Who will benefit by attending?

This workshop has been designed for those who have responsibility for managing a project but have not had formal guidance on how to do so.  This workshop provides the fundamental understanding and skills necessary to plan and control a small to medium sized project.

Workshop content:

The role of the Project Manager.
Project objectives: what, when and how much?
Project organization: dedicated or matrix project team?
An overall view of project planning: What is to be accomplished? Who is responsible for what? What resources are required? What must be done when? How will resources be allocated?
The work breakdown structure: analyzing the project’s activities and tasks.
Project staffing: who is going to do what?
The project budget: costs of effort and materials.
The project schedule: using a Gantt chart.
A time phased budget: comparison of budget and actual costs.
Controlling the project: monitoring performance and taking action to correct variation.

Workshop outcomes:

The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with tried and tested project planning and control techniques, suitable for small and medium sized projects.  By the end of the workshop the participants will be able to: describe the dimensions of project objectives; develop a project work breakdown structure; generate a project staffing matrix; estimate a project’s costs; schedule a project; define the nature of project control.
