Who will benefit by attending?

Anyone who has to carry out recruitment and selection interviews.  It is especially useful for those new to the task, or those needing skills refreshment, who need a sound understanding of the overall process together with the opportunity to learn and practise the necessary skills.

Workshop content:

Checking the vacancy really exists.  Is there some other way of replacing the leaver? 
Defining the job role, responsibilities, objectives and Person Specification.
Attracting suitable candidates using the most effective means available.
Collecting candidate's information from the application form, C.V. and references.
Providing information for the candidates to help them make their decision.
Short listing candidates by matching them against the Person Specification.
Assessing all candidates and deciding on the most suitable.
Actions required after the interview that maintain a professional image.
Skills and qualities of an interviewer: planning; establishing rapport; questioning; listening; note taking; body language; summarizing; use of silence; keeping control; knowing the law.
The interview structure: preparation; introductions; you tell me; I tell you; questions; if offered; what happens next.
The use and benefits of psychometric testing, structured interviews and assessment centers in the recruitment process.

Analysis of example interviews using a professionally produced video.

All of the above are covered on Day 1.  Day 2 is a completely practical skills development day.  Participants have the opportunity to practice interviewing skills and observe by way of video recording the techniques reviewed.

Workshop outcomes:

By the end of the workshop participants will: fully understand the recruitment and selection process; have developed the skills used in selection interviewing; have developed the confidence to carry out selection interviews.
