**Chairmans Remarks**
I would like to thank all those who supported the Essex Individual Foil Championships on the 29th October 2000. Not just the fencers and the ECFU Committee but to everyone who volunteered their time to help to make it a successful day, from refereeing to assisting in the running of the event, and to the parents for coming along and supporting the fencers. Without your help the event could not take place Special thanks are due to Alan Jones to whom I am especially grateful, and congratulations to this years Champions in the Men's, Women's and U11, U13 and U15 foil. See you all at the epee in about a months time. Remember BFA membership entitles you to compete in Essex County Fencing Union events. Lyndon N Taylor Chairman - ECFU

Another Competition comes and goes , Hopefully everyone enjoyed the day . A special mention to all the Juniors who all seem to be enjoying there day out in Chelmsford - Lets hope next year we can get even more out to fence

Sara winning the Essex Championship for the third time in a row
Adam Lapley fencing for the first time and he is only 7
Demitri Brown in his first competition and only 14 but decided to fence in the Senior competition

Christine after so many Bronzes and Silvers in Essex and the Regional competition - Finally got her well deserved GOLD Medal and First Championship

The Mens Foil ended with the Final between Francis Warren of Wickford and Richard Simms from Chelmsford
The Final was close up until the end with Richard coming back from the brink of defeat to snatch two points in the last six seconds, to take the fight into sudden death extra time where Richard managed to get the winning hit and become Essex Champion for the second year Running
