| Cadet Winton |
| For the first time in some years we are
going to enter a team for the Cadet Winton competition to
be held in Millfield School, Street, Somerset on the 16th
and 17th of December 2000. For those of you who don't
know the Cadet Winton is a team competition at all six
weapons: Men's & Women's Epee, Foil & Sabre.
Selection for the teams will be done from the Eastern
Region competitions to be held at Brentwood school on the
10th December & from national rankings. The winner
& runner up in the Eastern Region U18 competitions
will automatically be offered a place in the team. The
remainder of the team will be at the selector's
discretion. |
| It is hoped we will be able send a full
team, but a team will be sent even if not all weapons are
represented. |
| Junior Regional Championships |
| The Junior Regional Championships will
be held at The Courage Hall, Brentwood School, Brentwood

being sent to clubs and schools with this newsletter and

| The cost of the event will be minimal
as accommodation is provided by Millfield School. There

| Competition in Dieppe |
| Jason Fox the Hertfordshire
representative on the Regions committee, has been
in contact with fencing colleagues in Dieppe and has been
invited to take a group of young fencers to fence in
Dieppe next March. |
| The event will take place on the
weekend of 25th March 2001 |
| The idea will be to arrive on the
Saturday, stay overnight and fence on the Sunday. At the
moment, the competition will be for foil only. The
competition will be run for U10, U12 and U14 age groups,
with the categories as defined under French rules. That
is age on 1/1/2001. All British entrants must have the
usual B.F.A. membership. |
| Dieppe town council are prepared to pay
for youth hostel accommodation for the participants, but
in order to secure this we need a firm commitment and an
accurate estimate of numbers. Therefore all entrants must
submit an entry form and an accommodation fee as soon as
possible. The accommodation fee of ten pounds per
competitor will only be cashed in the event of the
competitor failing to turn up and will be used to
reimburse the hostel owner. Parents are welcome to come
along, but must pay for their own accommodation. Family
rooms should be available and Dieppe also has plenty of
reasonably priced hotels. It is expected that a group
ferry fare, about £20 return, £70 per car, will be
arranged on the ferry between Newhaven and Dieppe. |
| All those who are interested in going
should write to Jason as soon as possible, including the
entry details listed below and a cheque for £10. |
| Cheques should be made payable to 'The
Hertfordshire Fencing Association'. Entries should
include the following:- Name, Club, BFA Number, A
Signature of Parental Consent, Date of Birth, Boy/Girl,
