June 2005

Essex Clubs make their mark on the Eastern region Championships taking no less than 16 of a possible 24 medals (including four gold medals) making Essex the single most successful county at the event. Once again CAPU were the winners of the Anita Bales trophy. Congratulations all of our medal winners and supporters of these events. See results page for the Essex final positions.

 

May 2005

Well done Essex Teams at the Eastern Region Team Championships. In total Essex took eight of the medals split equally between Gold and Bronze. The four teams to gain the title of regional champions are CAPU A (Women's Foil), Newham A (Men's Foil), CADS A (Women's Epee) and CAPU A (Men'e Sabre)

 

March 2005

Congratulations to Alex O’Connell from Brentwood who won the Cadet World Championships in Linz, Austria. Alex fenced excellently all day coming back from 14-13 down in the semi final to beat the exceptionally fast Korean Min Goo Kang. In the final he met the very aggressive Ukrainian Anton Kuksa and at the break was leading 8-6 amazingly he went on to win 15-7!

 

February 2005

Essex and Colchester based coach Bob Bales has been appointed Director of Coach Education and Development for England Fencing. More details can be found on the England website. England Fencing website

 

November 2004

Following on from the epee the Essex County Foil Championships saw another strong and enjoyable days fencing, congratulations to Neil and Tina. At the Eastern Region Youth Championships Essex clubs take a significant proportion of the medals. Congratualions to our medal winners and we wish you every success at the National Finals. We regret to announce the death of Bob Baxter an Essex coach who taught at Wickford. Please click for Tributes

 

October 2004

Essex County Epee Championships saw a strong turnout from the county's epee clubs. Congratulations to Paul and Nora this years champions.

 

September 2004

CADS member John Ramsay is elected England President and Lyndon N Taylor is appointed to the England Executive as Secretary. Prof. Bob Bales takes on the task of reviewing coaching.


It is all change on the Eastern Region Committee; Tony Sach becomes Chairman and Alan Jones Secretary. Retaining their positions are John Ramsay (Treasurer), Lyndon N Taylor (Volunteers) and David Sach (Youth).


Essex Open (Colchester) saw James Beevers (Cyrano) this years Men's Foil Champion and Anthony Crutchett (Brentwood) makes it two years in a row when he took the Men's Sabre title

 

August 2004

All quiet on the fencing front.
