Essex Youth Games (Click here for up-to-dateinformation) Joanne Reynolds in Southend has successfully negotiated the inclusionof Fencing into the Essex Youth Games on 28 June 2008. This is a real opportunity for us to gain public exposure for fencing, as part of a major sporting event

This initiative is also offering significant opportunities to our clubs

  • Free publicityfor our participating clubs in local schools, to attracr newcomeers
  • A designated "Qualifiers Week" in May hosted by local clubs, and for fencers
  • Free entry to the essex Youth games
  • Free hire of breeches, lame etc
  • Signed certificate for all fencers
  • Free Essex Youth Games merchandise for some
  • Celebrity prize giving
Message of support from BFA President Keith Smith

Even if your own club is not hosting a qualifier, we should all ensure that every under 15 fencer at our own club is both aware of their local qualifier, and is helped as necessary to attend. It is up to us all to make this a success and ensure our inclusion in future Essex Youth Games

Congratulations to our one and only Rodney Francis who received an award made by the Torch Trophy Trust in recognition of the time and effort he has given to the sport over the last 16 years. This includes the running of the BFA's competitions at ALL levels and as a Director. He has also recently joined the England Fencing Executive.
