Competitions in other Regions

Dieppe Fencing Club

Following a telephone conversation with Frederic Brunier of Dieppe Fencing Club, I am now able to give out more details for the proposed age group competition in Dieppe.
It will take place on the weekend of 25th March 2001

The competition will be for foil only. The competition will be run for U10, U12 and U14 age groups, with the
categories as definited under french rules. That is age on 1/1/2001.
All British entrants must have the usual B.F.A. membership.

The idea will be to arrive on the Saturday, stay overnight and fence on the Sunday

Dieppe town council are prepared to pay for youth hostel accommondation for the participants, but in order to secure this we need a firm commitmant and an accurate estimate of numbers. Therefore all entrants must submit an entry form and an accommodation fee as soon as possible. The accommodation fee of  ten pounds per competitor will only be cashed in the event of the competitor failing to turn up and will be used to reimburse the hostel owner. Parents are welcome to come along, but must pay for there own accomodation. Family rooms should be available.

Cheques should be made payable to 'The Hertfordshire Fencing Association'
Entries should include the following: Name, Club, BFA Number, A Signature of Parental Consent, Date of Birth, Boy/Girl
Contact Phone Number and a contact e-mail if possible.
The type of accommodation prefered and number of accompanying adults should
also be stated

The address to send entries is:
Jason Fox
Hertfordshire Fencing Association
7 Pretoria Road
Watford
Herts. WD18 ORL

Notes
--------
We need a minimum of 15 confirmed entries for the go ahead. The maximum entry will be 40. Fencers in Hertfordshire will get the first opportunity of places.
The most obvious ferry route is Newhaven-Dieppe. The ferry times are liable to change but at the moment there is an early morning ferry and a mid-afternoon ferry. Approx £20 per person, £70 for a car. If more than five cars are going, itwould be possible to get a 20% reduction with a frequent sailing club card.

Further Questions as answered by Frederic 9/10/2000

1) What size foil is to be used by the competitors?
0 for 91-91, 2 for 88-89 and 5 for older
2) Could you tell me the precise definitions of the French Age Categories?
Minime 1986-1987, Benjamin 1988-1989, Pupille 1990-1991
3) Is there any chance of an armoury running on the day? With the difference in equipment prices and the strong pound, buying a blade or two would pay for the cost of the ferry. An armoury has already been booked!

Didier told me that he will have to submit numbers at the beginning of November.
