The Intermediate Foil and Essex Team Foil  

Firstly thanks to everyone who has helped and assisted in the running of this year's County Championships, in particular Alan Jones for his tireless efforts organising the events (and keeping this web site up to date) and to Mariette Mason for the work done on event days. Many are quick to complain or criticise how events are run and organised but few are prepared to put in the effort, to say nothing of time, to get these events off the ground, and don't forget they are all volunteers.  

Regrettably, I was unable to make the Team Foil on Sunday as I was at the Ipswich Epee World Cup event but I am please to see, from this web site, the strong entry and many new names, and a new County Champion, Cyrano A (Richard Kurzyca, Andy Eames and Marco Cavarllari) and commiserations to runners up Chelmsford A (Richard Simms, Adam Mclean and Graham James). Also congratulations to plate winners Highams Park A (Kevin Whitlock, Andy Bourlet and Roger ?).

  The County was successful at the recent Eastern Region Intermediate Foil Championships. This was the second year that Essex has taken the top place in the Men's event with CADS fencer Chris McKenzie the Champion this year with Peter Brackin (Southend) close on his heals in second place. Also from Southend was Women's runner up Christine Brackin, so gold and two silvers to Essex and again a fine performance from all the Essex fencers that were present. (Essex made up 43% of the entry!)   As a County I am sure we all wish all the members of our Excalibur Team the very best for this years competition and at the Read Cup later this season.
