Ravenscraig Castle

This castle overlooks Kirkcaldy at the Eastern end of the town.  It was built around 1460 and was the first to be purpose built to withstand cannon fire.   It has a sloping roof and 14 feet thick walls to protect the occupants against the cannon balls.  It was owned by the Sinclair family until 1896 and is now under the control of Kirkcaldy District Council.
