Notes on the relative merits of the HTML/PDF versions

To see the HTML pages corresponding to the sections below, please click on their page numbers. Please note that:

(1) the PDF version is generally a more faithful reproducton of the printed version than is this HTML version. 

(2) footnote numbers do not come out in the same numerical arrangement as the printed copy, which is correct in the PDF.

(3) the Burmese is not legible here except in the graphics, while in the PDF much Burmese is mostly legible (sometimes deceptively!).

(4) the tables are graphic files and of lesser quality than the PDF.

(5) corrections to the printed copy are indicated in green.
