Loreto-Magic Basketball Academy

We begin our link with Loreto Sixth Form College, Manchester in September 2008. Initially, it will be boys only, but we hope to add a girls' section in the near future.

Boys selected for the Academy will link a quality, professional basketball programme, with academic courses to suit their individual needs. Most of their basketball activities will be based at the Amaechi Basketball Centre, with some individual sessions at the College. All players will also have a comprehensive strength and conditioning programme.

As well as aspiring to excel academically, the Academy is designed to better prepare youngsters for a career as a professional basketball player. Currently, most youngsters move abroad to achieve this, but we hope that, in the long term, English basketball will mature sufficiently to allow players to remain in the UK and fulfil their basketball aspirations.

More details of the Loreto-Magic Basketball Academy will be available in September including a roster, schedule of practices and games, progress reports of individual players and Academy achievements.

Academy - Great News

Loreto Sixth Form College in Manchester have agreed to be our partners in the formation of the Loreto Basketball Academy to begin in September 2008.

It will enable the selected boys to have daily practices, plus access to gym programmes suitable for their individual needs.

We are now taking applications from players inside and outside of the Manchester Area to begin their Sixth Form courses at Loreto in September 2008. We have been allocated 10 places and have already accepted 4 players.

Anyone who is interested in applying for a place, must have a keen interest in his academic work, and be an ambitious basketball player who is prepared to work very hard to get to the top.
