Haris Tournament

Haris

The Haris Memorial Tournament is an annual holiday event which pays tribute to Haris Charalambous, one of the top players to come out of the Magic youth programme. Haris died suddenly while training with his NCAA Division 1 Toledo University team in October 2006. He showed all the qualities we need in a Manchester player, both on and off the floor. Haris' parents, Kypros and Polly, and his sister, Elena, will be there to see some games and present the trophies.

Haris Memorial Junior International Basketball Tournament 2008

The Haris Memorial Junior International Basketball tournament will be held at the Amaechi Basketball Centre, Whalley Range, Manchester again this year.

Haris Charalambous was one of our young local players who began his basketball career with our Club, then going on to represent England in European competition, before taking up a scholarship offer at Toledo University in the USA. Tragically, Haris died of a heart defect in October 2006 whilst doing pre-season training in Toledo to prepare for the 2006/07 season.

We hold this Under 18 Boys Tournament in his honour and have built upon our success of the last 2 years by attracting more International teams of a very high standard.

The line-up for our Christmas 2008 Tournament is as follows:

Zurich Wildcats (Switzerland)                       England Under 18
Gran Canaria Academy                                 Reading Under 18
