Loreto Sixth Form College in Manchester have agreed to be our partners in the formation of the Loreto Basketball Academy to begin in September 2008. It will enable the selected boys to have daily practices, plus access to gym programmes suitable for their individual needs. We are now taking applications from players inside and outside of the Manchester Area to begin their Sixth Form courses at Loreto in September 2008. We have been allocated 10 places and have already accepted 4 players. Anyone who is interested in applying for a place, must have a keen interest in his academic work, and be an ambitious basketball player who is prepared to work very hard to get to the top. Email Joe Forber - mmagic@tesco.net for further details. |

MANCHESTER BASKETBALL ACADEMY
Our Academy differs in concept from other Academies in English basketball, in that we only accept a limited number of players.
We try to be sure that any player accepted will be good enough to make a real contribution to our National League programme, where the standard is high. A player accepted may be good enough to play for teams in different age groups and, if this is the case, we encourage this process. Thus, a top quality Under 16 player will be encouraged to represent our Club at Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 levels - perhaps even at Senior level.
Players who fit into this category who need accommodation have been hosted for the last two years in our 'Academy House'. This is the basement area (large lounge, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, dining room) of a house owned by Greg and Judith Barnes, parents of Andy Barnes, who plays for our Club. There is also an outside basketball court at the bottom of the garden. These players are educated locally in a School/College to suit their academic abilities.
A typical week for these boys would be:
| Monday | Game at Amaechi Basketball Centre |
| Tuesday | National League Practice |
| Wednesday | Academy Practice |
| Thursday | National League Practice |
| Friday | Shooting Practice |
| Saturday | National League Game |
| Sunday | National League Game |
All practices and home games are at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
