Places to find Great Northern Buses & Lorries today.

Please remember to support the volunteers at the Transport Museum in Howth Co.Dublin!

Despite the fact that it is over forty years since the existence of the Great Northern Railway of Ireland there is a valuable collection of GNR vehicles.

Transport Museum - Howth Co.Dublin.

If you want to see a fascinating collection of GNR vehicles and many other interesting exhibits besides you must pay a visit to the Transport Museum at Howth just North of Dublin. There you'll see a GNR Gardner as well as the only surviving GNR AEC Regent Double Decker bus.

This photograph which was taken at Carrickarnon Border Post is not what it seems at first. It is in fact the Howth preserved AEC Regent III 438 in a stage-managed pose arranged by TMSI President Michael Corcoran to whom I am very grateful.

The helpful and knowledgeable volunteers at the Transport Museum will delight you with stories and information on every aspect of the many vehicles on display which include:

Trams Buses, Lorries, Electric Vehicles, Military Vehicles, Heavy Haulage Tractors, Fire Engines and other transport artefacts.

There are about 60 exhibits at Howth many of them unique examples from the Transport history of Ireland.
