WESTEND UNITED              4

(Mid Cheshire League Div 3 Under 12’s)

Westends latest game was away against a ten-manTarvin team on a hilly pitch but the weather was kind this week with the sun shining.

Tarvin kick off the match with Westend playing up the hill. Westend had all the play in the first half with the midfield of Oliver Gifford, Kit Ambage, Harry Higate and Jack Carroll running the game. Westend press forward and win a corner that Darren Roberts took and the ball came to Harry Higate who was running in to the edge of the box and he hit the most spectacular half volley and it went straight into the roof of the net to make it 0 - 1. Westend continued to pile on the pressure with shots from Alex Mason and Sam Marshall well saved by the Tarvin keeper. When Tarvin tried to push up the ball came to the defenders Scott Sapsford, Darren Roberts, Philip Roney or Dean Morgan and they were all able to deal with the ball by passing it forward or regrouping to bring it up field. Ambage was winning everything in midfield and Sapsford was working well on the wing putting some great forward passes in. Robin Evans in goal had a very quiet half with only the occasional bit of activity. Westend came forward with Higate on the ball and he passed it to Ashley Goodwin but his shot was saved. Higate and Goodwin linked up again and Goodwin put a great ball in to Gifford in the area and with great composure he shot across goal forcing it in off the post. At half time the score was 0 - 2.

Westend started the second half and the game continued with Westend pressing and Tarvin defending valiantly. Nick Tabbinnor was adding some width on the right and he made some good forward runs and attempts on goal. Goodwin had a number of attempts but his best effort went just wide. Westend won the ball in Tarvins half and it came forward for Marshall and Mason to chase, Mason took it and one on one he placed it past the keeper to make it 0 – 3. Tarvin push forward from the kick off and win a throw in, this was a good long throw and Matthew Blood, now in goals for Evans, made an excellent save to his right. Joe Brazier came on into midfield and Westend attacked again after a great ball forward from Roberts to Mason who had a shot that came back out off a defender to Marshall but his thunder bolt went over the bar. Dean Morgan, the right back, was having a good game both defending and sending some great passes forward for players to chase. Tarvin went on the attack beating Roney, Sapsford and Roberts but Roney used his pace to get back and tackle well to put the ball out for a corner. The corner came in and Blood was there to punch it clear. Westend finished off a very good performance when Gifford linked with Morgan who put the ball of the game through to Marshall for him to make it 0 - 4 with a shot that went over the keeper and into the net. At the final whistle Westend had increased their run of games undefeated to seven by winning 0 - 4.

The man of the match was Dean Morgan for his performance in defence and for his great forward passing.
