The Unsworth Dragon |
... |
||
|
In 1845 just outside Bury A little old village stood. The legend say's folk got quite frightened. For a dragon was lurking about in the wood.
For the problem had become dire. So they sent off a message to London. To ask for some help from this squire.
But for some reason he was'nt about. So he travelled up north on his charger. With the intentions of sorting this out.
Plaguing the Unsworth's land. And being a recognized warrior. Thought he'd go up and give them a hand.
Using all of the tricks that he knew. But at first he could'nt master it. And did'nt know what else to do.
Then He got a right excellent idea. That would send this old dragon to hell. He took out his favorite dagger And fitted it into his petronel.
Then angering that dragon it's said. Thomas shot in the throat with that dagger. The moment it lifted it's head.
Which apparently still can be seen. (seed) Along with a few other relics To commemorate this fearless deed.
And you ever feel like a flaggon. Look for the pub in the village. The pub they named after "The Dragon "
