Calisto is a free program which will display most common calendars. It enables simple comparisons between different calendars and makes it easier to understand the calendar changes which have taken place and the reasons for those changes. The program is available in Window95+ and DOS formats and can be downloaded from this site, please read the conditions attached to its use. Version update available, January 2004. See download page. This web site sets out to give a short description of these calendars, a simple explanation of when, where and why these changes took place. Here you will also find:
All of this may be better understood by viewing in Calisto. The program's main screen shows one year at a time for all years between AD 1 and 2999 - and it does this for 7 European countries. It is possible to drill-down so that a 4-week period can be seen in greater detail - in this window you can compare dates between many countries and calendars.
Described, explained and demonstrated are many calendrical terms and dating methods: John Kent, Author - January 2004
