Llanes, Asturias, Spain
The town of Llanes is full of bars, cafes, pubs and
restaurants. All through the year, there are plenty of places to
eat and drink until late into the night. Here's a selection of
them. Apologies to those missing from the list. If they are worth
adding, they will appear eventually on this page. Alternatively, e-mail your
suggestions, letting me know why they are worth adding.
Coffee and Vermouth
- El Bar del Muelle - In
the centre of town on the main thoroughfare, where you
can watch the world go by, whilst you sip a coffee or
vermouth. Great and varied selection of tapas.
Restaurant upstairs with a unforgettable home cooking
style cuisine.
- El Bitacora - is next door to El Bar del
Muelle. A large terrace in summer, where you can pass a
very pleasant afternoon with hot chocolate and churros or
many different types of sandwiches.
El Madison
- Very agreeable place to have
your aperitif in the morning. Large television
screen makes this bar a popular location for live
football. Take advantage of your stay by having a
go at the national lottery. If you are feeling
peckish try tortitas with cream, fried squid
especially prepared by Dorina, hot chocolate with
churros, various "pinchos" and hot
sandwiches. |
- Varadero - Interesting bar where the
owner Miguel offers his clientele a wide variety of
different coffees. Lovely view over the old port.
- Sablón's - Bar and restaurant above the
Sablon beach and in front of the beautiful San Pedro
walk.
- San Pedro - In the centre of town where
you can have breakfast, snacks, various
dishes and special coffees.
- Rocamar - One of the
typical places in Llanes for coffee, a snack or wine.
After lunch, play a game of dominoes or chat with the
ladies. In the evening, the bar becomes a meeting point
for friends, or you can leave a message with Manolo (if
he doesn't forget!).
- La Laguna - Cafe in the
main street Marqués de Canillejas.

- Xana - Breakfast, various dishes. In
front of the habour.
- Suki's - Cafe and burger bar.Various
dishes, burgers and pizzas.
Wine and Sidra
- La Puerta del Sol - Here you can try the
delicious sidra alone or amongst friends, accompanied by
a tapa of cabrales cheese, liver and onions or any other
from the large variety offered to its customers.
- Sidrería
El Cuera - tipical Asturian sidra bar with
various tapas, sea food and a full menu. Good atmosphere.
- El Campanu - Good quality sidra, ideal
to have with octupus "a la gallega", sardines
or griddled prawns.
- El Riberu - famous for its anchovies
"El Sablín" to acompany
a glass of good wine or for the lovers of sidra a "culín".
- El Bodegón
- In the square la Magdalena, this bar has a large
terrace where you can leave the children to play without
danger whilst you sample the sidra with cheese, chorizo
or fried squid.
- Matute - In front of the old port.
- El Galeón
- in the calle Mayor. Wine, sidra, tapas, sea food and
restaurant.
- El Salero - home-made tapas, tasty sidra
and a warm welcome from Esperanza and Beatriz.

seafood, tapas.
- Rumpeolas - Traditional and old-style cider bar.

- La Marina - famous for the best griddled
sea food the area.
- El Canene - Traditional and home
cooking.
- La Cueva - griddled sea food, meats etc.
- El Pescador - Good sea food

- Siete Puertas - good quality cooking
- Pizzería La Rivera- Terrace in front of
the old port. Excellent pizzas, salads, meats, and a
delicious sangria.

Acuario - in Posada. A family business
with an excellent kitchen in which you can taste
dishes such as cabbage filled with meat, Saint
Rupert (meat filled with ham and cheese with
sauce and potatoes), noodles with prawns and
clams or bass filled with shellfish in squid ink
sauce. There is also a great veriety of home made
desserts (Creme Caramel with apple, hazlenut
tart, marinated sponge with cream and
chocolate...) |

- Restaurante-Merendero La Carúa - in
Pancar.
- Casa Pancho, SL - in Vidiago (N-634),
speciality in cured meats, cheeses and home-style

- Restaurante Prau-Riu - Traditional
Cooking. Specialities: Iberic ham, marinated peppers,
rock fish, ox meat.
- La Caseña de Santa Marina - in Parres,
Llanes, Octopus, stuffed peppers.

- El Fogón - Speciality: seafood.
Night-time
La Cama, El Taumas, Kefrén, La Proa, Bambú - Great
young atmosphere with good music. Open until the early hours of
the morning.
El Brezzo, El Cambalache, La Galeria -
Excellent atmosphere. The street acts as a huge terrace in
summer. El Brezzo celebrates 20 years of existence in 1997.
Cervecería L'Esbardu, El Ñeru. El Marabayu - Always
popular.
Nudos - Popular pub where people of all ages
mix. Also has a burger "joint" upstairs.
Studio Tres - Disco with good atmosphere.
Open until very late.
El Bocatas is a good place to snack at ridiculously cheap prices and
the night cannot finish without a "bollu preñau"
(chorizo stuffed roll) or a croissant at the bakery. Scenes of
excellent night-time fun next to the church.
