Saint Brigid or Briget (or Birgitta) of Sweden.

1302-approx year of birth. Came from a noble Swedish family.

She married a Swedish nobleman before she was 15 years old., and bore him 8 children in their 28 years married life.

1344- As a widow she founded the monastery of Vadstena.

She also founded an order of Nuns, known as Brigetines.

1373-23rd July died in Rome, on her return from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

In art she is depicted with a Pilgrim's Staff, and the design usually includes a heart marked with a cross, and with her saviour standing near her. Briget was looked upon as a saint immediately after her death.

1378-The canonization process began, but it was interrupted by a papel schism.

1391-7th October Her canonization was finally completed.
