?FAQ?
Is this stuff second hand or new or what?
Technically it’s all second hand in that it was all bought by me from retailers. A lot of it has been read once and has had extra care taken over it to ensure that it stays "as new", some of it has never even been read. Some of it is in the bad condition more normally associated with second hand stuff and is priced accordingly.
Why are you selling your own books?
Because I am here as a feasiblity exercise, gaugeing the reaction to this type of product in this setting – as such I haven’t left work, haven’t laid out any money on stock and I am selling my own personal belongings – if it goes well I’ll be back with genuinely new stock (at slightly higher prices).
So how come you said some of it hasn’t been read?
I buy a lot of comics at once and then read them over a long period, some stuff here today is inbetween being bought and read e.g. Madman collections, El Borbah hardback, Krazy Kat collection.
If this is second hand why is it so dear?
Depends what it is but probably because it is a) in "as new" condition, b) rare, c) signed, or any combination of those three.
What do you recommed?
I recommend everything that I sell, there are books at home that I would like to get rid of but rejected because I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. If I go into this business properly I will stick to this system of only selling what I recommend, there’s plenty of it.
So does your stock represents what you think is the best work in the comics medium?
Partly, some of this stuff is world class, some of it slightly less so. Some of the best work in this medium is unrepresented here, something I look forward to sorting out before doing this "for real" if these experiments go well.
