One of my favourite hymns from childhood is "A New Name in Glory" by C. Austin Miles
"I was once a sinner till I came pardon to receive from my Lord: this was freely given, and I found, that He always kept His word.
"and there's a new name written down in glory, and it's mine (yes it's mine), oh yes it's mine, and the white-robed angels sing the story: a sinner has come home (has come home)... with my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven, never more to roam"
I managed to find the full text and music (MIDI and Score) at the wonderfully useful "Cyber Hymnal" site at:- http://tch.simplenet.com/ . I would warmly recommend this site - take a look, it's a marvellous resource!

I'd also like to find some links which tell the history behind some famous hymns, so I'll be looking around - watch this space!
In the meantime, take a look at this biography of Fanny Crosby:- http://www.nyise.org/fanny/index.html
On my computer page, I've got some really useful links to some cool Christian sites, including a free web-design service for Christian sites, free Christian clip-art graphics and backgrounds. Worth a look!
One of my favourite free Christian clipart sites is: Sidestream. They're not especially good graphics, but they will send a "fishtoon" to your e-mail box every week free of charge. It's really up-lifting and encouraging to receive friendly mail!
I was so disgusted with how commercial
Christmas had got last year, I vowed never to have another one
like it, so look out everybody, no presents this year!
(Seriously, isn't there something rather perverse in giving gifts
to people who have little need of anything when half the world is
crying out for the most basic of needs, housing, food and
clothing?) This page has links to Christian Christmas
sites as opposed to the usual secular Santa/ Father Christmas/
Presents ones:- http://web.nstar.net/~daroewe/xmaslinks.html

This is the most lovely painting I have seen of the "holy family". It was sent to me on a Christmas card, but there are no details about who the artist is. If you have any idea, I'd love to know. E-mail me at littlebears@tesco.net
Another favourite of mine, which I have hanging on the wall in the living room (our only piece of bona fide "art" in the house!) is a modern version of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, "The Last Supper" with the disciples depicted as black "rasta" men and which identifies the twelve disciples with the twelve tribes of Israel. Unfortunately it's much too big to scan in (maybe I'll get round to photographing it one of these days) so I'd be interested to know if anybody knows of a site with a picture that meets this description!
"Study to show thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth"
II Timothy 2:15
These are the daily Bible-reading notes I use, and which I would warmly recommend: "Our Daily Bread", published by RBC Ministries (Radio Bible Class) in America:- http://www.rbc.net/ (not to be confused with Selwyn Hughes' "Daily Bread".) There are lots of other daily notes available though, so I'll be on the lookout for links to other good ones, as well as online Bible Studies and the Bible itself online.

I managed to download a free (shareware) copy of a great Bible programme with the King James version from http://www.theophilos.sk but it did take a long time to download so, alternatively you can order it on disk for a small fee.
I've been involved with a number of Christian Youth organisations over the years, both as a "youth" and a "youth leader"!
Most of the clubs in the list below are "activity based" clubs, but they are specifically Christian in content and nature, whereas many I have found - especially Scouts and Guides - end up gradually becoming more and more secularised or, worse, made to be multi-cultural (or rather religiously "neutral" - for instance, the Guide Law has been amended to read "I will serve my God") to "keep up with the times" .
This initial list just happens to be uniformed youth organisations, and I know there's lots of more "modern" organisations, even including "Christian rave parties", whatever you may think of such things. I have to say that, in fact, I don't totally agree with them, but I know that the people that run them are doing it in the belief that the young people that go along to them may not be reached in any other way (I Corinthians 9:22). I'll be looking for links to their websites, together with more organisations...
Youthwork is an interesting magazine for Christian youth workers: http://www.youthwork.com
The Sunday school at our local fellowship has just closed down, with the result that all the children and young people would sit in on the service. Although everyone was disappointed to being with, I have actually come round to the conviction that it was the right thing to happen, since it is the Christian parents' responsibility rather than that of the Church to see to it that their children are brought up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Of course, there is a place for churches to run "Sunday school" type classes, but perhaps these should be aimed at "un-churched" youngsters, and perhaps held during the week or on Saturdays?
I have therefore been on the lookout for "Sunday school" resources that I could use at home to teach my children myself.

If you don't already know it off by heart, take
a look at the famous footprints poem:- http://inficad.com/~andya/footprints.html the first time I read it, it made me cry because I
think it's so true, and it has meant a lot to me! This site also
has a little history and a possible author of the poem.
I'm looking for links to
other devotional poetry sites... Recommendations welcomed!
A very interesting, challenging and useful site for discerning truth from error (I John 4:1) is Cross + Word at http://www.banner.org.uk They have an in-depth analysis of the rights and wrongs of the "Alpha Course" and its connection with the "Toronto Blessing". Well worth a look.

I'm particularly interested in conservative Christian groups such as the Mennonites, Anabaptists, Brethren, Pennsylvania Dutch and so on. You will find some interesting links at one of my friend Lavenia's pages: http://www.angelfire.com/la/lavenia/index2.html
One of the teachings that the above groups seem to hold in common is the covering of women's heads, particularly for prayer and worship, (I Cor 11) and this goes hand in hand with modesty and chastity. Lavenia has extensive links on these subjects at her Prayer Meeting page: http://hometown.aol.com/lavenia01/index2.html Prepare to be challenged!
