We don't currently have a working TV with channels, although we do have an old set that works with a video-player. So we don't watch any current TV programmes (as much out of choice as situation) but we do watch videos from time to time. Tommy probably watches a video every other day, but that's nothing in comparison with the amount I watched as a child! I think I must have spent my entire childhood in front of the TV! But in my defence, there's a lot of people who would agree that the 1970's was the real "golden age" of British television, especially children's programmes.
JUST FOR CHILDREN
Tommy's favourite modern TV programmes include mainly BBC programmes from a compilation video we have: Postman Pat, Fireman Sam, as well of course as Teletubbies... Looking for links...
We got quite into Swedish Children's TV while we were out there: take a look at SVT1's Bolibompa:- http://www.svt.se/barn/bolibompa/index.html
and K4's Latjo Lajban:- http://www.tv4.se/AND FOR YOUR SECOND CHILDHOOD
There are quite a few sites dedicated to mainly 1970's British children's TV programmes, try "Watched It" at:- http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/1011/
TV Cream at:- http://tv.cream.org/INDEX.HTM
Kid's TV at:- http://www.trembirth.demon.co.uk/
and Bigglethwaite's TV:- http://www.bigglethwaite.com/ from whence you will also find a webring dedicated to the same subject! Some of our absolute favourites, apart from BBC classics like the Wombles, Rhubarb and Bagpuss, would have to be Hanna Barbera cartoons! Looking for links...
We're both big sci-fi fans, and Tommy seems to be quite interested in spaceships too!
We all love Star Wars (of course)but I'm frankly not impressed with the official Star Wars website, so I'm on the look out for other sites. (I always think that fan sites are better than official ones)
Some old favourites of mine are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Martian Chronicles. We also like Star Trek original series & Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Tommy's not keen on Star Trek, but he loves the Flight of the Navigator. Looking for links.
FILMS
We also like classic black and white films, including my mum's favourites, Norman Wisdom films and Danny Kaye films as well as Dorris Day.
There's a good Danny Kaye site here: http://www.reelclassics.com/Actors/Kaye/kaye.htm
And for Norman Wisdom you need go no further than here: http://www.flashbacks.freeserve.co.uk/index-page3.html
I'm still Looking for links for Dorris Day
TV PROGRAMMES
I really love The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie
There's a great information site about Little House on the Prairie here: http://webpages.marshall.edu/~irbyl/laura/frames.html
And there's an semi-official Walton's site with a ring here:- http://www.the-waltons.com/home-b.html
