The Village Pubs

Strictly speaking, there are two pubs in Longborough - both are called the Coach & Horses and both are tied to the local Donnington Brewery. One is in the village itself, the other is up the hill in Ganborough.

This is the village pub, unspoiled and friendly - and a finer view from any pub terrace is hard to find. Connie Emm, the landlady, celebrates her 30th year here in September. Connie keeps a fine pint of Donnington's Ale, both B.B. and XXX - a delicious dark mild which is not sold in any other pub. The pub is a popular watering hole with both cyclists and ramblers - and an old Cyclists Touring Club wall plaque still greets the cyclists as they come up the path. There are regular visits from troups of Morris Dancers - many of whom have been visiting throughout Connie's tenancy. The pub has darts and cribbage teams and hosts the occasional Quiz Night. Dogs and well behaved children are welcome. Food is not normally served, but, if you are a party of ramblers or cyclists and phone in advance, Connie may provide you with sandwiches, but if you're a "foodie" this is not the place to come. The Coach & Horses at Ganborough is on the A424 Stow-on-the-Wold to Evesham Road. The pub has been run by Jill and Ben Sands for about 2 years. It has a large car park, childrens play area, beer garden, function room, skittle alley, and children are welcome. The pub offers a wide range of food from bar snacks to evening meals.Telephone: 01451 830208.
