Do you dream of galloping across a deserted beach, with the Atlantic rolling in beside you? Maybe you prefer the hush of mature forests where all you hear is the sound of your horses hooves and your own thoughts. Or what about wide open moorland with views to take your breath away and skylarks for company? You don't have to make any decisions! When you come trail riding with us you will ride through all of these and more. Every day will see you riding through landscapes as beautiful as any in the world.
Our horses vary from new-born foals right up to Ben the Clydesdale but the riding horses are mainly 15 to 16.3hh. We will endeavour to provide you with a mount which will give you a safe and enjoyable riding experience.
You will learn to build a bond of trust with your horse, giving you confidence in him when you reach the beach where they love to feel the wind in their hair as they enjoy a canter.
You are not asked to do any mucking out or cleaning tack but there is ample opportunity for you to learn horse and stable management practices if you would like to.
This is trail riding when you can cover over 100 miles (during a 6 day stay) but only the horses have a different bed each night. You will be driven home here for afternoon tea and homebaking in front of the log stove, or, on a warm summers evening, a cold beer or home-made lemonade in the garden or in the sunroom.
If you would prefer to work on your riding technique while you are with us, you could choose not to go trail riding but to have some lessons in the all weather school each morning, with a break for lunch, then a hack out in the afternoon. You won't miss out on the beach riding though because at least one ride out can be to the beach if you want to experience a good, free canter.
If you decide you'd prefer to go shopping or exploring on foot or by bicycle now and then, that's fine. Your holiday will be built around what YOU want to do, with full days or half days riding as you prefer. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and easy with no mealtime gongs or regimentation!! If you want to help out in the stables or tack room you will be very welcome, but it is not expected of you.
Sorry but we do not take unaccompanied children. Children over 8 years are welcome as part of a family. Non riding companions are very welcome and there is plenty for them to do while you ride.
Because many of our guests come from overseas by air, we offer a unique extra in our holiday package. During your stay with us you will have the use of a courtesy car - at no extra charge - to allow you to explore the countryside or go shopping in town.
