COUNTY RECORDERS COVERING BRECKLAND

A number of different people are involved in the collation of animal and plant records from Breckland, most of which pass this information on to the relevant county recorders for Norfolk and Suffolk.  The central collation of biological records is of fundamental importance for both conservation and our understanding of the ecology and distribution of species.  The records that you contribute can make a difference at the regional and national level, so make a habit of recording what you see and submitting to the recorders listed below.

Recorders may require some kind of validation before accepting records from observers unknown to them.  Do not be put off by this, it is simply a sensible way to start things off on the right foot.  Additionally, many recorders may be prepared to help with identifications but should be approached before sending them specimens (see Guidelines for sending specimens).  A dead shrew in an envelope on your doormat can make an interesting welcome back from a two week holiday.
