Breckland Bird Report

The aims of the Breckland Bird Report are to provide a cohesive and detailed account of the area's birdlife. The emphasis is on monitoring populations of common species or those for which the Brecks holds regionally or nationally important numbers. This will keep those concerned with conservation in the area better informed about which species and sites warrant greater protection.

The first of these reports was published for the year covering 1998 and this was very well received.

The 1999 report followed and included the first Breckland Mammal Report produced by Mike Toms and Ian Henderson.

Andy Wilson led the production of the Breckland Bird Reports for 1998 and 1999 but has since moved to the BTO office in Scotland in 2002. Although further Breckland Bird Reports are yet to appear, Mike Raven of the BTO has taken over the collation of bird records. There are plans to publish Breckland Bird Reports for the intervening years. Mike Raven can be contacted at mike.raven@bto.org. Copies of the 1998 and 1999 Breckland Bird Report are also available through Mike Raven and are priced at £2.50 including postage and packing.
