CHARACTERS - ANAKIN SKYWALKER, C-3PO + JAR JAR BINKS Anakin went off and was trained as a Jedi Knight by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. He helped fight with Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars against the evil Palpatine. After meeting Queen Amidala of the Naboo the pair fell in love and had two children, Luke and Leia. However Anakin soon became disilliusioned with his progress and found the Dark Side to be more inviting. After a fierce battle with Obi-Wan, he fell into a pit of molten lava and emerged as the formidible Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. As Vader he helped Palpatine strike fear across the galaxy. He captured his own daughter, rebel sympathiser Princess Leia, and then tried to kill his son, Luke, just before the Empire's Death Star blew up. He contined scouring the galaxy for Luke, knowing he was the main threat to the Empire's rule. After tricking him into going to the cloud city of Bespin the pair fought and Vader revealed himself to be Luke's father. Unwilling to believe Luke flung himself off the top of a chasm, and miraculously lived. As the Empire started work on the second Death Star the rebels went to the nearby planet of Endor, where Vader again tracked them down. Luke and Vader fought again in front of the Emperor. The Emperor was about to strike down Luke with his electric bolts when Vader seized him and threw his master down a pit to his death. Luke rushed to the dying Vader's aid and removed his helmet but it was too late, he had died. As the rebels celebrated their victory on Endor, a mystical image of Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker appeared. Jake Lloyd Born on March 5 1989 in Colorado, Jake did not wait long to get into films. He has appeared in TV shows such as The Pretender and ER and been in films such as Jingle All the Way and Unhook the Stars. For a full profile of Hayden Christensen, click here.
Built by Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine, he remained there when his maker left to become a Jedi. He was later picked up by the Rebellion and put aboard a ship which had stolen data plans from the Empire. R2 and he escaped back to Tatooine where they met up with Luke Skywalker. From there their adventures started as 3PO was whisked off into the rebels' battle. Not before being struck down by a Tusken Raider though. In fact 3PO doesn't have too much luck when it comes to limbs. On Bespin he gets pulled apart after being shot and has Chewbacca to thank for getting him back together - albeit backwards. One of his finest moments comes on Endor when a group of ewoks are convinved the shining gold being before them is a god. "But Sir, I'm not programmed to impersonate a Deity", he whined. Originally Lucas had planned to make 3PO a used-car salesman type of robot but was convinced otherwise due to the brilliance of Anthony Daniels.
As C-3PO he has planted his 'metal' footprints outside Mann's Chinese Theatre. He has appeared in The Muppet Show, The Famous Five and Lord of the Rings in 1978. Born in England he rarely appears at conventions, although was the host of a special event in Denver in 1999, just prior to the release of The Phantom Menace. JAR JAR BINKS
Jar Jar, love him or hate him, is a bumbling Gungan who was expelled from his home for being "clumsy". He literally bumped into Qui-Gon Jinn as Naboo was being invaded and took him to his underwater city for refuge. There he was saved from being stoned and helped Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi to find their way to the city of Naboo and Queen Amidala. He stayed with them as they landed on Tatooine, and despite nearly being throttled by a disgruntled Sebulba, managed to stay alive and watch Anakin win the Bonta Eve Podrace. Upon returning he fought in a ground battle with his fellow Gungans against the Trade Federation's Battle Droids. Ahmed Best Best was found by George Lucas while he appared in the chorus line of Stomp was invited to try for the role of Jar Jar. He wore a body suit throughout filming and Jar Jar's head was put on afterwards by computer animation. |
