SPONSORS

The Clacton Sci-Fi Convention is sponsored by several different groups and firms from the area. And this is the bit where you get to hear about them.

We've tried to ensure that the convention offers you not just the show, but also a day out in the town, with some discounts for visitors.

Clacton Pier is Europe's biggest pleasure pier. With free admission it's the town's main tourist attraction, offering state-of-the art rides whilst maintaining its traditional Victorian feel. Pick from the Twister, Terminator, flight simulator or the, the Haunted Mansion.                                                              Directions: The big thing at the end of the beach...

Flicks Cinema: A two-screen venue, with the latest blockbuster releases. Flicks One holds hundreds of film fans, has one of the biggest screens in the conuty and the latest in high-tech sound equipment. Visitors to this year's show will be entitled to have money off a visit to Flicks.

Anyone presenting a convention ticket on the night of the show will be able to buy one cinema pass, and get another one completely free. It is hoped to show this years major movie, Planet of the Apes, on the night of the show.

Directions: Flicks is at the junction of Pier Avenue and Old Road, at the entrance to the town centre. Telephone: 01255 429627.

Magic City: A children's entertainment emporium, with numerous things to keep youngsters amused. Situated in the town's amusement arcade area, just in front of the pier, Magic City has established itself as the town's main attraction for young children.

Directions: The road directly in front of the pier, on the left hand side as you walk into town.

Highfield Holiday Park: Clacton's largest holiday park, Highfield is famous as having once been host to Spice Girl Emma Bunton on her holidays. It has excellent facilities, a swimming pool, two large entertainment suites, top-class caravans or chalets and plenty of on-site catering.

Directions: Follow the signs into Clacton on the A133, and then look for the signs for Highfield.

Phone: 01255 424244 E-mail: highfield@leisuregb.co.uk

Creatures Unlimited and GDI Records are our final sponsor, courtesy of Gary Wilson. Gary is one of the biggest dealers of Hammer House of Horror toys and models in Europe, if not the world. On top of that he has numerous other kits and models and is providing the top sci-fi prizes for our competition. His singing partner is the legendary Christopher Lee.

The show is also helped by Tendring Council's economic development services. They have their own website which promotes the whole of the area, and can tell you a little more about what's going on, and can be found here.
