Elisabeth is best known as playing the likeable Sarah-Jane Smith in the Dr Who series from 1974-1976. She appeared with the Doctors Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker during what many regard is Dr Who's greatest era. Born in Liverpool in 1948 she went to drama school before going to work at the Liverpool Playhouse as assistant stage manager. In 1970 her husband landed a part in a play in London and so she moved to the capital. Three years later Dr Who was after a new assistant to the Doctor and Elisabeth won the role. By the second series, with Tom Baker, she had become a celebrity, getting to turn on the Blackpool lights with Tom Baker and appearing on talk shows.
Since Dr Who she has kept busy, doing a season in the Liverpool Playhouse, commercials and a children's TV show called Stepping Stones. To return to the main convention page click here. |
